Barrie Public Library Author Market Debrief
Hello Dreamers. Overall the Barrie Public Library Author Market was a nice experience. I managed to get 2 more email subscribers and spoke to many fellow authors and readers. While I only sold 2 books throughout the day, it is still nice to get out there. Can't complain - the table was free with proof of being in Simcoe County. Still, people complimenting the art on everything. From the merch to the covers, to the logo and the Photoshop. I even had someone think the cover

Toronowrimo, a Month in Review
Hello Dreamers. Wix Studio gave me tons of these November is over and now its December, so now that I have to worry about Christmas and New Years Eve, I would like to reflect on Toronowrimo. Its a good challenge to get words out. After all, no one has time to spend 10 years of their lives writing their magnum opus. Did I Make It? I wrote everyday for most days of the week. After all, to reach the 50,000 word goal you have to pump out about 1,667 words per day for the 30 da

Shock in the Darkness
Based on Canada'a Golgotha by Francis Derwent Wood It's the dead of night and you are sound asleep inside the trench you dug. Dreaming of home, or the Kizar, or some froline, I dunno what Jerries think about. It's cold, dirty, damp. I'm coming to take you out of your misery. In the shadows we lurk, clad in darkness and wearing more blackface than an American minstrel show. In my hand a butcher's cleaver, readied over you. Why not just shoot you? Simple - guns are loud, k

Quiet Drop and Torowrimo Updates
Hello Dreamers. First, its November. Meaning the decade-long tradition of writing 50,000 words in 30 days started. As I am focusing on output these posts would be mostly updates. Here is everything for November. Toronto Wrimo I am using the output of my writing to finish up the initial draft of Whisper of the Abyss' sequel. The working title being "Beckoning from the Stars." Following the detective tasked with solving Walter's murder, the narrative focuses more on Uxzil'

CanCon Ottawa Debrief
Hello Dreamers. CanCon Ottawa was a whirlwind of excitement and stress. The weekend was packed with experiences that I can’t wait to share with you. Day 0: The Journey Begins I woke up early on Thursday. I boarded the train to Toronto from my hometown. I had messed up my train booking for Ottawa, missing the 10:48 AM departure from Union Station. Once on VIA Rail, I felt a wave of relief. My luggage was within weight limits, and I had accepted that the cart would stay home. I

No Kings
Hello Dreamers. While I am not American what happens in the USA has ripple effects in my home in Canada. So while I cannot be at a No Kings rally today, due to CanCon and being in Canada, I do want to show my support for the country and those watching what happens when you have an unitary president. The Symbol of Resistance: The Frog Portland, Oregon, had protests with people dressed up in silly animal costumes to demonstrate the ridiculousness of armed patrols in a town whe

Ignite/WOTS Haul
Hello Dreamers Got all these weird AI images, might as well put them to use. After some arguments with my computer, I got the haul video up onto Youtube. It simply goes through everything I bought at Ignite and WOTS. Another will be posted post CanCon Ottawa. Below are where you can find these books by these authors. Just as a warning some of them might not be available anymore. With that, enjoy! Books Fate's Fall Volume 1 by Karla Doyle: https://www.amazon.ca/Fates-Falls-

WOTS Debrief
Hello Dreamers. I had a grande time at WOTS! Over the weekend I was able to sell 8 books and an embroidered patch. While not quite enough to pay for the table, its still a better outcome than at Ignite by Books. I also got to talk to readers and hand out business cards. All and all, a great time. As with WOTS there were lessons to be learned and some interesting trends that popped up. The Book that Sold the Most Is... Whispers of the Abyss. Yeah, I know, people heard 'Te

Exciting Updates from Space Whale Dreams
I've been working hard on the site. My goal? To make it easier for you to find us in search results. One big change I want to celebrate is the integration of Bluesky into the blog. Now, whenever I post here, a link will automatically appear on my Bluesky account. This involved using Hookdeck and webhooks, along with Wix Automation. It required some tricky programming to ensure that key information passes smoothly from one step to the next, all while complying with Bluesky's s

Ignite by Books: a Retrospect
Hello Dreamers. So I attended the event over the weekend. Overall I had a good time and got to meet some cool people, though there are a few takeaways from the event that I know I need to incorporate in future events, not just for Ignite, but others, like WOTS. Like perhaps booking two nights as opposed to one in the hotel - I pretty well scrambled on the last day to get on transit and get home. As well as not forgetting my business cards (oops). What "Respect My Existance or Expect My Resistance" Means.
Hello Dreamers. At time of write I have this side hustle trying to sell print on demand posters of some of my digital art. Its called Bold Expressions Spot if your interested to check it out. You can own this image as a poster print here. As part of operations I run a few ads on Facebook. There I link to other posters in the store. A/B testing showed that many resonated with the "Respect My Existance or Expect My Resistance" piece over others within my collection. Those

Let Me Tell You a Story About a Bunker
The three of us sat in the concrete bunker. Our living situation since the nukes fell a year ago. One year of sitting in a dark, concrete room under the ground, lit with a fluorescent tube that started flickering two months ago. Shelves stuffed with cans of beans and spam and bottles of water from a begone era where taps existed. The closet of a toilet, which began reeking about six months ago, being the only reprieve from having multiple sets of eyes staring at me, and us. T

Why AI Won't be Managing this Site
Hello Dreamers. AI generated image. I promise there is a point to it Let me start by saying, unlike a lot of individuals in my profession as starving self-published author, that I do not hate AI. AI, like any computational technology or paradigm, is an extension of the mind. Just as early computing helped make math easier and less prone to error, AI can be leveraged to assist in many tasks. Yes, I am aware it isn't without growing pains, such as programming jobs disappeari
