November is over and now its December, so now that I have to worry about Christmas and New Years Eve, I would like to reflect on Toronowrimo. Its a good challenge to get words out. After all, no one has time to spend 10 years of their lives writing their magnum opus.

Did I Make It?

I wrote everyday for most days of the week. After all, to reach the 50,000 word goal you have to pump out about 1,667 words per day for the 30 days in November. Everyday I tracked my words in a spreadsheet. After all, accountability is important for these things.

At the end of the mouth I was able to write 39,571. Almost 10,000 words shy of the 50,000 target.

Blah.

I started weak, then my new meds kicked in, and then I got lots of words in. Then the darkness, the cold, and burnout made me slow down. Which brings me to one point here.

Why November?

According to Wikipedia (based on the original National Novel Writing Mouth, since broken up into multiple groups like Toronowrimo) the reason why the powers that be selected November as the mouth was to capitalise on the shitty weather most place in the first world experience when its November. Cus, like, in June or July the weather is nice so you will be outside. In November you would be couped up in the house all day due to the cold, dark, miserable weather - might as well get some words in, right?

Except the dark and cold makes me want to sleep. When I try to write, I usually am too tired to even think of something to write. Much of the time I don't even want to game. I'm only functional now due to an adjustment on my depression medication. Even with the words I had to be loaded on a combined total of 360mg - 500mg of caffeine to keep my mind awake long enough to vomit out the words.

At least if the month was June I could actually spit out word with some energy to spare.

I Did Get a Lot Done

Writing sprints with a writing group and later the One-Shot Anthology, forcing more words out, did help in my word count. Within the mouth I wrote a 2000 word story for the One Shot Anthology, wrote a couple of blog posts, and managed to add 30,000 words to the draft of Beckoning from the Stars - the Whispers of the Abyss sequel.

The One Shot's release is TBA. Beckoning from the Stars is sitting at 64,000 words out of the recommended 80,000 words that I'm aiming to have the book at.

Overall, while disappointed for missing the target, I was very productive through out the month.

What's Next?

This December I will be finishing the edits for Guide From Madness, aiming to launch in mid-December. I am right now looking over the editor's edits and recommendations. There is also the Barrie Public Library Local Author Market on December 6th that I will be attending.

I'm also fixing up the website, hoping to make it easier to find, and therefore add to my brand influence.

I'm planning for another instalment of Anataya Chronicles, and a 1-off about Space Whales.

Stay tuned, and sweet dreams.

Hi Shannon im glad you achieved your goals 💗 sounds amazing and I get it some days are better than others. I've been busy with Drumming and Quora. I've got my own thing Ultra Woke if you want to check it out Im also admin for another site as well as contributor in about 10 other sites. Im a terrible admin I invite people to contribute and they do and I say just write what ever your passionate about and I accept everything because the mission is in the name. But people are into different things and I probably spend more time reading then posting. There are some really great writers in there and then they follow me are you…
