Subsistance farmers tended the lands of their lord for generations, paying the tithe for its use and for protection from bandits.  However, when there is a tithe increase due to threats of war with another landlord, life gets harder for Nara and her husband, Koltin.  Pressure compounded by crop failure and the arrival of Renti, their first child.  Follow their struggles as Nara is forced to pay the ultimate price.
