Impromptu Interview while Gaming

Hello Dreamers,

On the Mario Kart Livestream on the 14th the topic of my next book came up organically. For the span of 9 minutes Erica picks my brain.

Trying to monetise casual conversation? Maybe. Hubris? Sure.

Course as the conversation unfolded I realised that I haven't made any announcements about my next book yet. Well, here is some dets. Below is a transcript of the conversation for those who can't watch a Youtube Video.

For those interested in Erica, here is her twitch: www.twitch.tv/senorita_erikita. She is a hardcore Mario Kart player who organises events for GenCon.

Erica: Yeah, I just went on a vacation and that ate up a lot more money than I was anticipating.

Shannon: I know sooner or later I'm going to have to fill up some cash for an editor.

Erica: An editor? What do you mean?

Shannon: For next book.

Erica: Ooh, I was going to ask that crossed my mind earlier and then I promptly forgot. Tell me more.

Shannon: Yeah, I mean, my next book, at the moment it's looking like it's going to be a cyberpunk story.

Erica: Really?

Shannon: About an entity that being a disruptant in the world.

Erica: What entity did you say?

Shannon: It's like a, it's electric

Erica: Aha, okay.

Shannon: And a lot of the story is about trying to figure out what this is, and how it was able to bypass a lot of the cyberpunk technology. That's including like, effectively virtual reality on steroids. I was just it's going to be in the virtual space as opposed to the screen.

Erica: My goodness. Everything is going to be fine. Sorry, I was saying my goodness to crossing the finish line and like, I'm not using my brain. I'm not using my brain anymore for that. Um, so have you started working on that book?

Shannon: Well, I'm right now in the middle of the first draft of editing. First round of editing. The draft's ready.

Erica: How many, how many pages is it? Or the other book that you, you put out, how many pages is that?

Shannon: Previously, Whispers of the Abyss. That was, uh, that came to about, you know, like, I think it was like, It's about, um, 80,000 words, which is roughly 300 pages.

Erica: Nice.

Shannon: And there's a good chance that, uh, the next book, Quantum Songstress, will also be about 80,000.

Erica: Mm-hmm.

Shannon: If all goes to plan.

Erica: Um, is this, is the second book going to be, um, following the first or is it going to be a whole new story?

Shannon: A whole new story.

Erica: Exciting.

Shannon: If all goes to plan in Quantum Songstress...

Erica: Nice, my track got chosen again. I am blessed.

Shannon: Yeah. Um, yeah, I think, um, one thing I've been trying to do, and it's, in part because it's recommended, I think, I'm gonna do a new book. I'm trying to, um, publish 3 books this year.

Erica: Okay. Have you even thought about what the third one would be about or is that too far in the future?

Shannon: Um, well, I've said this year so Quantum Songstress is going to be one. Um, I think the ones after that, one's going to be a sequel very first book published.

Erica: Mm-hmm.

Shannon: Champion of Seasons. And the second one will be a sequel to Whispers. So that would make for three books.

Erica: I'm going to have to use my brain for this game. There's a lot of drifting involved.

Amazingly, you can talk and game at the same time. My daughter, who lives in Germany is playing Fortnight and posting some of her game play on her channel and well she got to be a jedi level gamer.I am happy that she has those things that get her revved up you know? I'm excited for you, creator.Great for an interview.
