Look!
Uh, Shannon, $10 isn't a lot of money!
So? The $10 represents people on Amazon, most of whom will be strangers, deciding that my book is worth the minimum $2.99 USD for ebooks. Nevermind paperback versions!
This inflates my ego more than a sale at a TDotSpec hosted launch party as those tend to be pity purchases by people who already know me and want to encourage me. Those royality are from people who don't know me, and therefore don't care about my feelings.
There is another take away from this.
All of that ~$10 was from Whispers of the Abyss. The date range was from since the book's initial launch on Amazon. Meanwhile not a single unit of Champion of Seasons has within the same time. Seasons has been on the market longer.
What does this mean exactly? That YA doesn't sell? I would be better off as a horror/smut writer? That marketing mistakes were made with Champion of Seasons? Perhaps people prefer a 80k novel to a 25k novella.
Still, baby steps!
I loved Champion of Seasons. Every page I was smiling because there was another page. I have read it twice now, and the second time was better. ADHD and Autism can be, to say the least, a distraction, but when im in there, the world you made, I'm in that world witnessing the story unfold. The tiny details I missed the first time made it more enjoyable.
